Alma Linux 9 / Kernel Panic on Install

I have an AMD Ryzen 9 5600HX mini server that is running Proxmox 7.2. When I create a virtual machine and try to boot the Alma Linux 9 Minimum ISO, after choosing option to “install” it almost instantly kernel panics. I am not using anything crazy for my Proxmox hardware configuration. VirtIO SCSI, 2 CPU, 4GB RAM, simple specs. Just FYI, I am able to boot the Alma Linux 8 Minimum ISO and do full install without any issues, appears to be related to Alma Linux 9 ISO. See attached screenshot of the issue.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Update & workaround : The issue occurs with Proxmox when using the default cpu type (vm64). Setting the VM cpu type to “host” fixes the problem.

Thankfully found this from thread:

Confirmed with OpenNebula as well.
Fixed by going to:
OS & CPU – CPU Model – (Choose host-passthrough).

I ran into the same issue on proxmox 7.4-3 with Alama 9.2 minimal. Switching the Processors from vm64 to host under Hardware resolved the issue.
