Why does my network adapter get disabled after disabling NetworkManager in AlmaLinux 8.5 Beta?

Hello everyone! can you give me a hand with this? Why does my network adapter is getting disabled after disabling NetworkManager in AlmaLinux 8.5 Beta?

why would you expect anything different?

network-scripts is deprecated and there is no network.service

Thank you for your clarification. I was wondering if let’s say I disabled the “NetworkManager” for some reason, would I be able to enable my network adapters with other alternatives?

Why beta? AlmaLinux 8.5 is officially released.

It is possible to (re)configure network manually during runtime, but then you have to do it after every boot.

What most people do want is that system/service configures network during boot.

  • The NetworkManager.service is the default method offered in AlmaLinux 8.
  • The service network is deprecated. Can be installed, but really should not.
  • EPEL has systemd-networkd. That is a possible alternative to NetworkManager.

Many thanks mate for the prompt reply. I appreciate you taking the time to answering my question. I will look for a way to workaround …
