AlmaLinux 8.7 (Stone Smilodon)
While using the computer, one of my xfs filesystems just went empty. It’s as if every single one of the thousands of file were deleted in an instant.
No errors in /var/log/messages. Nothing from dmesg. No messages from xfs_repair. And please no comments on why I’m using xfs file systems in the first place. It looks exactly like I just formatted and mounted a new empty filesystem.
Thankfully I have current backups, so this isn’t a crisis, but my fear is it might happen to another filesystem, or if I do a restore it will happen again.
Any suggestions on where to look next? Or just toss the drive in the garbage and replace it?
