Zstd for zram in default kernel

I am a bit new into RHEL and its derivatives (so I don’t know much about this family), but I have noticed, that zram support zstd compression algorithm only when CONFIG_CRYPTO_ZSTD is defined, but neither it is the case in standard kernel that AlmaLinux provides.
I am not sure if this decision was made somewhere at RHEL or at AlmaLinux, but I am curious why such good thing does not compiled at all by default? To gather zstd support I have to compile my own kernel or install kernel from elrepo, but I don’t think it is the only solution.

Could you please provide me some information why this decision was made?

P.S. Sorry if wrong category was chosen.
