Fallout from Redhat source code availability?

Back in June, there was the announcement of Red hat changing their source code availability, which would directly impact downsource distros such as Alma, Rocky, Oracle, ETC.
There was a lot of FUD when this was announce but I’ve not seen anything related to it since then or observed any tangible impacts.

I’m hoping someone could weigh in on what the impacts of that decision were and what it means for sourced projects like Alma going forward?

My concerns is that without access to the source code, compatibility between distros as well as the response to security vulnerabilities and patching will begin to deviate substantially between distros.
